The only born and bred scouser in the band.
Hugh emerged like Tony and Mick from the Merseyside Skiffle scene. His Welsh ancestry showed in his fine singing and his ability with words which made him the groups leading singer -songwriter.
He played six & twelve string guitars, banjo and great ‘blues’ harmonica. His singing of the big ballads was second to none and his song about the Isle of Man Steam Packet Boat the ‘Ellan Vannin’ is now widely sung as an old folksong.
